Our team pride ourselves in providing a wide range of activities and events to suit all of our residents needs. Comprising of art and craft classes, pet therapy, outside entertainers, visits from local schools where students attend and work alongside ourselves and the residents. We also have presentations on wildlife and other demonstrations, musicality and singalongs, quizzes, a poetry corner, knit and natter sessions, and one to one interaction, as well as trips out in the mini bus. For our residents who are less mobile we bring the shopping experience to the home for their convenience. We respect everyone's religious beliefs by providing visits from all denominations, such as Anglican, Catholic, working in conjunction with the local mosque and the Jewish community and providing religious interaction. We encourage our residents families to participate in all our activities, working alongside them to ensure we provide the best service possible here at Edgbaston Beaumont.

Celia Palmer

Activity Coordinator

I’m Celia and I’m the Activity coordinator here at Edgbaston Beaumont.  I previously worked as an activity coordinator in a hostel and am enjoying the shift into the residential setting.  I have an arts background so enjoy painting and drawing in my spare time, which hopefully I can share my love for with the residents here.  I also enjoy reading, travel, live music and looking after my cats! And copious amounts of tea.

In2 Cultures perform

Here at Edgbaston Beaumont we were delighted to welcome In2Cultures for an afternoon of music as they performed with their African drum band.

It was a fantastic afternoon as they played a selection of African instruments including Djembe, Ngoma, Dunun and Talking Drum. They host workshops across the community and we do hope they will visit us again soon!

Home celebrates 105-years young

Celebrations have been in full swing this week at Edgbaston Beaumont as one of its residents reaches her 105th years-young in style.  Alice was joined by staff, relatives, friends and other residents as she enjoyed a special birthday cake made by the home’s chef.

Sarah Billingsley, General Manager said, “We’re delighted to be celebrating a truly remarkable lady as she reaches this amazing milestone. Alice is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more”.

Burns celebrations

Here at Edgbaston Beaumont we prepared a traditional Burns Night feast to the tune of bagpipes. To honour the famous Scottish poet, we hosted a poetry and music session to learn more about the Scottish Country Dancing and the Ceilidh and to mark the Scottish institution, including giving the time-honoured address to the ‘Great chieftain O’ the pudding’ race’ – the haggis.

Our tables were specially decorated with flowers and Scottish flags for the occasion as our residents enjoyed delicious Haggis, Neeps and Tatties prepared by our talented chef.

We all had a wonderful time learning more about Robert Burns and the Scottish culture and traditions.

Orchestra of the Swan perform

We were delighted to welcome to the home, @Orchestraoftheswan for an afternoon performance of classical music.  They brought a variety of instruments to the home and residents enjoyed the sound.  Orchestra of the Swan is a British professional chamber orchestra based closed to the home at Warwick Schools Foundation in Warwick.

Flower Power

Residents embrace flower power for an afternoon of flower arranging.  The ladies chatted as they showed their artistic flair creating their arrangements which are now proudly displayed throughout the home – the home is now filled with the lovely aroma of fresh flowers.

Residents join Barchester's Big Quiz

Staff and residents from Barchester’s Edgbaston Beaumont care home joined fellow keen quizzers from over 250 Barchester care homes and hospitals across the whole of the UK, including Wales, Scotland, Jersey and the Isle of Wight, to put their collective general knowledge to the test.

The inaugural Barchester Big Quiz of the Year took place on 9th January 2024 when Edgbaston Beaumont got super competitive and took on its sister homes from all over the country to find out which Barchester home or hospital had the best quizzers.  From historical humdingers and musical musings to pictorial puzzlers and connective conundrums, the homes battled it out to find out who would prevail.
