Activities at Chalfont Lodge Care Home

Chalfont Lodge is a large care home and we have a diverse range of groups and events to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included. In the Lifestyle team we work hard to create a sense of community and ensure there is always someone to talk to and something to do.

Our residents help us to plan the monthly lifestyle programme, making sure that everyone has something they like, enabling people to keep up with life long hobbies or pick up new ones. We have long term projects like our summer parties, car shows, BBQs, craft fairs, Christmas shows to mention a few and residents can be as involved as they would like in all stages of the planning or just come along and enjoy on the day.

We love going out on trips, to lunch, shopping or to socialise with other local groups, we also have many people who come into visit us with church services, music, talks and support for our bigger events.

We have a fantastic team of staff and every department is involved in making sure our residents get the most out of living here. We have a brilliant music therapist who works her magic 3 days a week, running group and individual sessions. Our Physiotherapy team keep everyone fit and active, working with us to make sure everyone has access to sports and team games.

We have a full programme groups, events and clubs but none of it would be possible without our residents and their families, we all work together to make this a home from home and to keep laughter and friendship at the heart of what we do.

Alex Perkins & Louise Doyle

Activities Team

Hello, I’m Alex the Activities Lead at Chalfont Lodge, working with me is Louise Doyle. I've worked at Chalfont Lodge for 8 years now. I originally started off as a volunteer and fell in love with the residents, families and staff. Since then, I've been an Activity assist, Activity Coordinator and now the head of the department! Activities are my passion and I love creating an environment where all of the residents can thrive and do what they love!

Chalfont's Christmas Party

Chalfont Lodge's Christmas Party was in full swing today with festive treats, mulled wine, ukulele performances from the staff along with carol singing & so much more. Residents enjoyed an afternoon of festive cheer and dancing!

What a great afternoon we all have had getting together to celebrate the upcoming Christmas period!

Designing Gingerbread Houses

We love any excuse to get creative so when we found out the 12th of December was Gingerbread House Day, we didn’t need any persuading to get cracking.

Our residents, got busy decorating with icing, strawberry laces, dolly mixture, jelly beans, smarties and sprinkles to make some of the glitziest gingerbread house and train in town!

They look really lovely and they are indeed delicious - what a fun way to spend our time.

Christmas Crafts

Let's get crafty! Here at Chalfont Lodge our residents have enjoyed creating and designing Christmas Crackers ready for the big day. Colleagues and residents were heard laughing as they exchanged jokes for the inside of the crackers.

Heartwarming Carols

We would like to thank the talented pupils and staff at St Helens College who came to sing for our residents this afternoon. Christmas carols filled the room and corridors from their angelic voices with the residents having a great time listening and singing along bringing lots of emotion.

It was also lovely to see one of our residents who was headteacher for this school watch with her daughter who she passed the headteacher role onto before finally meeting with the current headteacher.

The Christmas spirit was most certainly being felt today!

Festive Cheer

Residents have been enjoyed having a festive coffee afternoon with delicious homemade cakes and a special performance by the Ruislip Belles and Beaux Hand Bell Ringers. Everyone sang along to their favourite carols and even turned their hand at musical instrument playing!

Christmas Wreath Workshop

In preparation for the upcoming Christmas festivities, the residents had a fun afternoon making and decorating their own Christmas display whilst getting involved in arts and crafts sessions to make Christmas wreaths. Everyone had an amazing time and we are all looking forward to the holidays.
