Activities at Castle Care Village - Castle Keep
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Housekeeping Week
We decided to shower our housekeepers with a gift bag of items to relax with as well as a ‘thank you’ to show our appreciation.
Singing with Jay
Jay is currently a care assistant on our Nightingale Unit and sings in his spare time, so offered to come in for an hour each side on his day off to sing for our residents on Willow and Nightingale. All the residents enjoyed this as he sang a mixture of songs old and new.
Jelly & Angel Delight
Jelly and Angel Delight was made with the help of residents on our Willow Unit.
Divisional Carer of the Year
Congratulations to Kerry Finn, who has been named as a Divisional Winner in the 2020 Barchester Care Awards. Kerry is a finalist in the Carer of the Year category and has been invited to attend a virtual awards ceremony on 8th October, where she will find out if she has won overall.
Get Growing
We have recently acquired a greenhouse for our Nightingale unit, and the residents have been growing plants.
Congratulations to Our Memory Lane Champion
Angela Gardner, who has worked at Castle Keep Care Home for 20 years, was thrilled to be named ‘Memory Lane Champion 2016’ at the Barchester Care Awards for the fantastic care she gives to people living with dementia in the home’s Memory Lane Community.
The judges said: ‘Angela views herself as someone completely unremarkable but the opposite is true! She goes above and beyond in her role and will go into the home on her days off to make sure residents have an extra special time.’
Castle Keep had already won two awards in the first heats of the Barchester Care Awards. In addition to Angela, who won both a regional and national award, carer Shaun Hales won ‘Carer/Support Worker of the Year’ in the regional heats.
Well done, Angela!
