Activities at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jo & Julie

Activities Coordinators

Awel-Y-Mor's activities team consists of three Activities Coordinators, each having a specialist unique role within the group, including work in the multi-sensory concept, as well as organising days out, trips to sporting events and pop concerts, and arranging themed days. Jo has been with us for over ten years, beginning her Barchester career as a Carer, and Julie joined us in 2018.

A Huge Congratulations to Elizabeth!

We are proud to announce that our very own Elizabeth Kenedy-McGregor has been awarded Learner of the year at this year’s Barchester Care Awards.

Thousands of nominations were received from our homes and hospitals across the UK. All entries were a very high standard and Elizabeth is over the moon to have been named National Winner, beating hundreds of other nominees.

Elizabeth joined winners from across the UK at a special awards event on the 12th of October to celebrate their outstanding achievements and to receive their awards.

Well done and huge congratulations from everyone at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home

Shawn Nicholas

As the Met Office predicts another scorching heatwave to face Wales in the coming week, Shawn Nicholas has managed to capitalise on the warm weather with his own smart little drinks stand. Having first set up the idea after school two weeks ago, Shawn said to his mother "come on Mum, we can make a bit of money here" and set up a charming drinks stand serving squash and water to thirsty passer-by's outside his home in Brynafon Road, Gorseinon. Shawn has now become a local legend, winning the hearts of customers with his charm and ingenuity, even to the extent of having loyal returning customers.

Jimmy Elvis

When Jimmy Elvis is in the building the residents always have a fun time, singing and laughing, what a great atmosphere.
