Activities at Arbour Court Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a variety of activities and events for all residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus, visits from entertainers and musicians and small group and individual activities in quiet yet stimulating environments. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect resident individual interests as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Arbour Court Care Home
The history of Coronations
Across our services Residents had a wonderful time participating in an interactive virtual talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at the University of Westminster, where we delved into the rich history of coronations.
During the talk, we explored fascinating topics such as the coronation chair, the crown, and other significant aspects related to King Charles' upcoming coronation. Our residents were thrilled to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the memoirs of past coronations from 1937 and 1953, as well as learning about the coronation oath and what to expect from the ceremony, including the music, guests, and pageantry.
Historic Royal Palaces
Our residents were treated to a special virtual sensory storytelling session. Together with Art Historian Jon Sleigh and the Historic Royal Palaces community team, we explored several royal palaces through the theme of food, dining and celebration!
We enjoyed a fantastic taste-a-long experience from the comfort of our home, from Tudor treats to Stuart sweets. A lovely time was had by all.
Book Club Corner
Across our services, our residents had a lovely time joining Mark Piesing for an exciting virtual event to discuss his book ‘N-4 Down: The Hunt for The Arctic Airship Italia’.
Our residents were thrilled to find out more about the book and the fascinating story of the world-famous exploring airship Italia, returning from the North Pole on May 24, 1928. The airship was struck by a terrible storm and crashed somewhere over the Arctic ice, triggering the largest polar rescue mission in history.
The virtual book club experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Care Assistant celebrated 15-years
A Care Assistant at Arbour Court has received a prestigious 15 Year Service Award in celebration of working at Barchester Healthcare for 15 years.
Corina Vlada, started at Barchester in February 2008 and has worked with residents and their relatives to ensure that their needs have been met over the years.

Residents enjoy a pampering session
Residents at Arbour Court care home have enjoyed an afternoon of pampering as they were given a hand and nail therapy session. The team at the home were on hand to provide the resident centred pamper sessions, with residents enjoying treats such as cakes and refreshments whilst being given manicures and hand treatments. Chinese New Year
We welcomed in the Year of the Rabbit with a day of celebrations and activities. The Chinese New Year is China’s most important festival that celebrated the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar calendar.
Inspired by Chinese culture and traditions, our residents enjoyed a creative session with Chinese New Year DIY dragons and made beautiful lanterns to mark the day.
We all enjoyed some music from Greater China, and created colour dragons with our hands in an arts and crafts session. It was a fun day.
