Barchester in Bloom finalists announced

The Barchester in Bloom 2014 judges have revealed which gardening projects and gardens are their pick of the bunch and announced the finalists for all six categories.

Barchester in Bloom promotes the imaginative planting of flowers, trees and shrubs in the gardens of all 200 of Barchester's care homes across the UK. Care homes from across the country entered their garden or gardening project into the competition.

This year’s finalists are:

Best hanging basket or container:
Kirkburn Court, White Lodge, Laurel Bank, The Marriott, The Warren

Best community garden:
Ashchurch View, Canmore Lodge, Chater Lodge, Lynde House, Oulton Park

Best floral or vegetable display:
Hunters, Marple Dales, Lynde House, The Marriott, Oulton Park

Best sensory garden:
Seaview, West Abbey, Highfields, Reigate Beaumont, Hugh Myddelton

Best residents’ garden or project:
Chester Court, Hollyfields, Arbour Court, Challoner House, Woodside House

Barchester Healthcare garden of the year 2014:
Laurel Bank, Hunters, Rivermead, The Marriott, Rose Lodge

The finalists will find out which homes have won top place when they attend the awards ceremony on 6th November at The Royal Botanical Gardens in Birmingham. The awards will be hosted by celebrity gardener Charlie Dimmock so finalists with any gardening queries may get the chance to ask one of the country’s best known gardening experts.
