Activities at Leonard Lodge Care Home

Activities at Leonard Lodge

Our activities team offer a wide range of social events, from the very popular Friday morning bingo, to gentle exercise sessions, skittles, regular animal visits and arts & crafts sessions. We are fortunate to have a team of volunteers who stop by weekly to provide additional support, allowing residents the opportunity for one-to-one sessions. These sessions could include anything, even something as simple as playing a game of Scrabble or just having a cup of tea and a chat. We believe that it is essential to support people in such a way that they are able to continue to live full and happy lives doing the things that they enjoy.

Lynn Amiri

Activities Coordinator

My name is Lynn and I lead the Activities Team here at Leonard Lodge.

Since working at Leonard Lodge I have dedicated myself to ensuring that each of our residents can continue to partake in the hobbies that they have enjoyed for years. It is important that all of the residents here have access to life enriching, fun and social activities.

The whole home supports my team and I to organise activities, events and entertainment tailored to every residents preferences, abilities and needs. Each year we have a fantastically full calendar, and we look forward to the future when we can invite the families of residents to join us in the home again.

I am married with two children and two rather annoying rescue cats. I lived in Italy for a number of years and love all Italian food, especially when somebody else cooks it for me! I love to read, especially crime novels. I am a regular theatre goer with a passion for musicals. I like to sing and dance (albeit badly!).

Life at Leonard Lodge Care Home

A Visit from All Saints School

Today we enjoyed a fantastic visit from All Saints School for an Easter celebration including singing and readings from the bible. The children brought Easter cards that they had made and some excellent stained glass window pictures.

Mothers Day Colouring Competition

Leonard Lodge residents were thrilled to be asked to judge a Mother's Day Colouring Competition being run by St Joseph the Workers Primary School. All 7 classes at St Joseph's submitted entries to the competition and it was really hard for residents to narrow it down because all the pictures were lovely. On Friday residents braved the rain to attend the Mother's Day assembly and were thrilled to be part of it and hear the children's wonderful singing and the residents even received a present from the school. Leonard Lodge manager Fiona Crickmore said it's so important for residents to maintain contact with the local community and we would like to thank St Joseph's for inviting us.

A visit from Lucy the Lamb

Today Performing Pets brought Lucy the lamb to visit us. Residents enjoyed cuddling and stroking Lucy who was calm and affectionate and had the softest wool. Lucy is only 8 days old and is an orphan, but is being well looked after and will go to a loving home when she is older.

Performing Pets Visit

Today we enjoyed a visit from 'Performing Pets' who brought along some birds including budgies, a cheeky cockatiel and a ringneck parakeet called Coco. Residents loved seeing their bright colours and hearing their cheeky chirps.

Valentines Day Party

Here at Leonard Lodge, we enjoyed an afternoon of music with singer Tim Arthur to celebrate Valentines Day. Residents enjoyed the music, the cakes, dancing and spending time with friends and family.

National Cheese lovers day

Today we enjoyed a cheese and wine afternoon to celebrate National Cheese Lovers Day. Residents enjoyed a variety of cheeses including feta, goats cheese and Wensleydale with cranberries, a selection of crackers including a beetroot flavoured one and a glass of wine. We did a cheese quiz and discovered that we don't know much about cheese but we know what we like.
