Activities at Westlake House Care Home

Residents enjoy playing hoopla and bocce bowls, which combine exercise with the thrill of competitive sport. We invite entertainers and musicians to visit the home on a regular basis and residents very much enjoy watching them perform.

We also have our pet therapy dog, Marley, visit the home on a fortnightly basis, and residents love petting him. They also enjoy health and fitness days, where they get the opportunity to participate in armchair exercises and target games.

We always celebrate National Volunteer Week, which we use as a chance to say thank you for the wonderful work that our volunteers do that further enhances the quality of life for those who live at Westlake.

As well as continuing with our favourite activities, such as arts & crafts, bingo, knit & natter, Scrabble, board games, bridge, quizzes, pampers & manicures, reminiscence sessions and musical memories, we always like to launch new activities for residents, which give them the opportunity to socialise with their friends and families. These could be our own vegetable patches, flower arranging sessions, a book club or anything else that our imaginations conjure up.

Life at Westlake House Care Home

Celebrating International Nurses Week at Westlake House.

Celebrating International Nurses Week at Westlake House. All our Nurses including our Manager, Deputy manager and Clinical lead received a small gesture to appreciate the fantastic work they do. At Westlake House we are grateful to have 5 residents who are former nurses, the heroes of the profession. They each gave us some sound advice and reflected on their memorable experiences. The advice which stood out was that Nurses never retire, it’s a calling and once a Nurse, always a Nurse. This is indeed true as we can relate to the experiences we see from our residents. We also sang along to a nurses song which was a dedication to Florence Nightingale, the mother of modern day Nursing. The event was concluded by sharing a delicious freshly homemade cake baked by our fabulous Chef. Happy international Nurses week

Sheila 90th birthday celebrations.

Westlake House celebrated our resident ambassador, Sheila Elliott’s 90th birthday. Sheila had a freshly home made birthday cake from our wonderful chef team. She celebrated her birthday with her 2 brothers who are also residents at Westlake House.

As a resident ambassador Sheila is responsible for checking in with all the residents, taking note of any ideas and suggestions and discussing them with the management team at Westlake House. We are grateful for the good work and support Sheila gives to our residents and their families. We wish her a happy birthday and hope all her dreams will come true. We are very grateful for the good job she does.

It is National Activity Providers Week.

It is National Activity Providers Week and we would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank our wonderful Life Enrichment support team, Mel, Hazel, Connie and Thelma who recently joined the team, for all of the fun and laughter they bring to the home.

We are proud of the unique, inventive activities and meaningful moments they bring to our residents every single day. They always go above and beyond their role and for this we are truly grateful.

As part of the week, our Activities team have been taking part in a whole host of events provided by NAPA, connecting and sharing ideas with teams across the country.

Special celebrations are also took place at the home throughout the week with residents, friends and fellow colleagues.

Fun filled session of balloon tennis.

We all know how important it is to keep moving, but who knew how much fun a game of balloon tennis could be. Just look at the concentration in the residents faces.

Residents at Westlake House enjoyed a fun filled session of balloon tennis, which is great for our mobility and hand eye coordination. After all the fun a well deserved cuppa and a slice of delicious home baked cake.

Westlake House nail bar.

Residents enjoy a morning of pampering.

Our ladies at Westlake House had a lovely morning of pampering and enjoyed a manicure with Emma one of our volunteers. Emma has been a volunteer at Westlake House since 2018 and we look forward to her visits .

Emma will be back again in 2 weeks. Thank you Emma and see you soon!

Petworth Town Band came to perform at Westlake House.

Petworth Town Band was established in the 19th Century, and is one of West Sussex's few remaining traditional Town Bands.

Its was an amazing concert and a real treat to have some many fantastic musicians play for us. Everyone really enjoyed it and its was a special surprise for Ron Green who was once a member of the band.

Thank you for playing for us we are very grateful.
