Activities at Meadowbeck Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Tina Holmes

Lead Activities Co-ordinator

Hi, I’m Tina, and I am the Activities Coordinator here at Meadowbeck.

I began working at the home as a Care Assistant in 1999. In 2014, I changed my role to Social Support Worker, which I enjoyed, as it involved supporting residents at Meadowbeck in their daily lifestyles.

I then became the Activities Coordinator in May 2017. I love working with our residents and getting to know them and their families. In addition to supporting them maintain an active lifestyle I always ensure to personally get to know each resident when they move in with us to support them in the continuation of any hobbies or interests the might have.

Life at Meadowbeck Care Home

Residents Dream Comes True

Peter a Resident at the Meadowbeck Care Home in Osbaldwick York has wished to revisit his lifetime passion of Motorbikes. So staff at the home made his wish a reality proving the old adage, it’s never too late.

Peter has lived at the Meadowbeck Care Home for 2 years and is beloved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted to be a part of making his dream come true when they received an invitation from the Squires Motorcycle Café in Sherburn Elmet, inviting Peter to join them for a bikers meet, as they knew how much it meant to him, and they all wanted to be there to see the smile on Peter’s face when his dream was realised.

Celebrating Cadbury's 200th Birthday

Residents across our services had a wonderful time joining Cadbury for an interactive virtual talk on their fascinating 200-year history.

Residents joining learnt interesting facts about the chocolate giant, shared memories, and reminisced about their favourite sweet treats.

It was a heart-warming experience filled with laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of chocolatey goodness!

Victory in Europe Day celebrated

Meadowbeck  marked the anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style by throwing a 1940s afternoon tea party to remember.  The home was decorated in red, white and blue flags and bunting, residents, families and friends enjoyed an afternoon of wartime music and dancing.

Head chef, Daniel whipped up a delicious selection of freshly-baked biscuits, sandwiches, cakes and pastries for the occasion, all washed down with pots of tea.

Residents reminisced about their memories of VE Day and watched clips of the celebrations that took place outside Buckingham Palace and all across London.

Home host Spring Fair

Meadowbeck was full of animal mischief when baby lambs came to visit the home for our Spring Fair event. Residents at Meadowbeck care home were pleasantly surprised to see their new furry friends roaming around their home when two baby lambs Velma and Daphne, from Ryedale Animal Group paid a visit to our spring fair.

It was a great start to the afternoon, with everyone enjoying live music entertainment with Nikki Humberstone and a delicious afternoon tea, browsing homemade crafted stalls.

Cheese and Wine

We were delighted to welcome our residents, relatives and friends in the local community in to our home to join us for our latest cheese and wine event.

Everyone enjoyed a selection of delicious cheeses and fine wines to suit their required taste whilst they were entertained with live saxophone music played by the very talented Clare.

We had a fantastic evening with lots of singing and dancing.
