Activities at Emily Jackson House Care Home

Our activities team continues to offer a wide range of activities to both mentally and physically stimulate our residents. Our activities include one to one shopping, group outings in our minibus, and regularly attending our local church and bowling club. We also enjoy the entertainment from the musicians who come and visit us as well as our PAT dog. We have a range of activities so residents with all abilities and talents can join in activities and social gatherings. We encourage families and volunteers to share the joy with us by taking part in our social events as well.

Life at Emily Jackson House Care Home

Outing to the pub

The Sun was shining today so it was a good excuse to go out for a trip in the minibus.

The residents were asked where they wanted to go - to a garden centre or a pub?

Well no surprise where we ended up.

The residents enjoyed their drinks and a change of scene.

Thank you to The Chaser Inn Shipbourne for making us feel welcome and for Dionne , one of our lovely volunteers (North Kent College) for helping.

Sensory Boards

The Magnadots and Magna boards are proving popular with the residents.

These magnetic boards are great for the residents cognitive skills. Activities and games keep the brain active especially for people affected by Dementia. The activity, stimulation and a sense of accomplishment can be beneficial and therapeutic for anyone.

The games help to provide a cognitive stimulation, hand-eye coordination and help fine motor and dexterity skills.

Residents also enjoyed a cookery class today and liked decorating ( and eating) the cookies they made.

Staff Appreciation

All of the staff at Emily Jackson House are dedicated to supporting and caring for our residents but carers Manori and Funmi go the extra mile.

They are always happy to help.

We are happy to recognise their hard work with a small token of appreciation for being such great team players.

Fun and smiles!

What a great time we had at our Easter Fete!

We had several stalls run by local small businesses, a raffle and a tombola.

Refreshments were available throughout the day and we were entertained by the wonderful June B.

A resident commented ‘It was like a party!’. It certainly did feel that way.

Thank you to all that helped, had a stall and to everyone that came.

We thank you for your continued support.

Easter Holy Communion

In the morning, we had a Holy Communion service with Anne, the vicar from St. Luke’s church. After a lovely service and a few hymns, we all indulged in some buttery, delicious hot cross buns with our drinks. Anne, visits the home regularly to see the residents and offer Holy Communion. After lunch we managed to dodge the rain and ventured out in the minibus. The residents were keen to see some spring flowers so we visited Seven Oaks Garden Centre and Cafe. Dionne our volunteer from North Kent College was on hand to help. There was such a lovely display of plants and flowers to see.

Afternoon fun with Clayton

We love it when Clayton visits us at Emily Jackson House. He always brings so much energy and fun. Clayton entertained us with such a great selection of songs. The residents had a great time singing along, clapping and dancing. Thank you Clayton for another wonderful afternoon of music.
