Activities at Corrina Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Corrina Lodge Care Home

Corrina Lodge Garden Venture

The Corrina Lodge Community were so grateful to the Camberley and District Men's Shed who built a  fantastic raised bed for us.

The activity team connected with the charity following one of the homes garden venture meetings. Resident Brian, a keen gardener, suggested growing some veggies this year and thought that a raised bed where fellow residents could join in even if they were wheelchair users would be great.

The bed was built from reclaimed wood and the charity very generously didn't charge us on this occasion.

The Camberley and District Men's Shed  rely on donations to help them to continue to support their local community with amazing projects like these. They even recently made some hedgehog ladders for the local bowling green, so that the hedgehogs are able to escape if they fall onto the green.

Such an incredible charity.

Oscar Fun at Corrina Lodge

We had an absolutely wonderful time celebrating our incredible residents and staff at the Corrina Oscars and enjoyed a wonderful after party together too.

We have so many talented and amazing people living within our community and it was lovely to come together and celebrate each other.

Easter Celebrations

Corrina Lodge had a wonderful Easter Weekend celebrating as a community.

Resident Jackie knitted some lovely Easter baskets which were filled with mini chocolate eggs for visitors. She is so talented and incredibly creative and  was on a mission to make sure there was plenty of  baskets for all.

Another one of our wonderful residents Sarah and her family, Bill and Sian surprised the community with a donation of Easter eggs for every resident in the home. Bill and Sian are members of  MbM Gospel Choir and Motivation by Music (ToC Voices), who generously contributed a fantastic selection of Easter Eggs. The family’s  kindness and generosity certainly put a smile on all of our lovely residents faces.

The finale was a brilliant Easter Family Fun Day. The visit from Browells Wood Pet Therapy and all the lovely animals was a real hit. There was an Easter Egg Hunt with lots of chocolate treats for all to enjoy. Head chef Kath prepared some delicious hot cross buns and there were also had some delicious Easter nest cakes which were lovingly made by the Corrina Lodge residents.

It was a real community effort with plenty of laughter and fun had by all.

Community Tea Party

What a wonderful time we had at our complimentary Afternoon Tea Event.

We opened our doors and welcomed members of our local Age Concern community  to join us for some toe tapping musical entertainment provided by the fabulous pianist Alan Poulton. This was followed by an absolutely delicious afternoon tea of freshly baked cakes and scones with jam and cream, prepared by our Head Chef Kathleen. Our guests all said they had thoroughly enjoyed their time at Corrina Lodge and the opportunity to socialise and have fun with like-minded was really good and they were definitely looking forward to visiting again soon.

St David’s Day

There was no better day to introduce our wonderful Head Chef Kath than on St David’s Day.

Kath was born in Pembrokeshire and grew up on a small holding and is incredibly proud of her Welsh roots.

Today Kath has helped us celebrate in true style and residents, staff and visitors have been treated to some tasty traditional Welsh cakes and bara brith.

Kath has been a head chef for  Barchester Healthcare for 9yrs. Kath and her dedicated team are passionate about providing a delicious and varied menu which includes fresh and seasonal produce.

Kath is an incredibly valued member of the Corrina Community and we are lucky to have her.

Storytime Volunteers

We were made incredibly welcome at Camberley Library by Trish, Emily and all the families and their children for a special Book Day Storytime.

We really value and love being part of the wider community and are regularly joined by Ali and the rhymetime team, from the library, at Corrina Lodge Care Home  every first Monday of the month for our Corrina Tots & Rhyme Time Fun.

Residents Betty and Beryl have been enjoying reading to the children at the Tots sessions and loving it.

Following their enjoyment and success of reading at Corrina Tots residents Betty and Beryl  two of our wonderful residents were thrilled to be invited to read to the children at the library Storytime.

Betty and Beryl shared 'The Tiger that Came to Tea' by Judith Kerr and the children seemed to have fun and enjoy the story.

Betty and Beryl are now keen to  become regular Storytime volunteers, which is absolutely wonderful.
