Activities at Cadbury Hall Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Paula James

Activities Coordinator

Hi Im Paula and I am the activities coordinator for Cadbury Hall,

As a local lady, I have a lot of connections within the community, which will support our residents in getting out and about.

I have worked in the care sector for over 20 years, and I intend to bring my wealth of experience to the role to ensure our residents get the best experience possible in their golden years.

My passion is spending time with residents, as they are full of life, fun and laughter and no two days are the same.

Life at Cadbury Hall Care Home

Knit and natter

Every Friday we have knit and natter in the home, we like the local community to come in and spend time with our residents getting to know them and the staff . Felicia is one of our carers and always supports residents with their hobbies and helps teach them new skills, we are going to introduce a crochet teaching class  with Felicia as a few of our ladies want to learn how to crochet. Hopefully in the not too distant future we can show everyone what we have learnt.

Out and about

We love having our own mini bus on site, it means we can go whenever we want to and when the weathers been this good this week, we are out out. We went to Cheddar Gorge for the morning, we enjoyed seeing the waterfalls, cliffs and even the goats. We stopped at the café for some light refreshments before driving through the Gorge to see Jacobs ladder and the caves.

Making memories with friends

At Cadbury we really like to nurture friendships made within the home. These 2 lovely gentleman met whilst staying with us on respite last year, they immediately hit it off and have been firm friends ever since, they even visit each other when they aren’t staying with us. They both have a keen interest in aviation so we thought it would be a nice little treat to surprise them with a trip to the helicopter museum. Both were completely unaware that everything had been organised and were so pleased to be able to spend the morning with each other doing something they both enjoyed. Here at Cadbury we aim to make your stay as special as we can and even include you when you aren’t staying  with us.

Girls on tour

This month the garden centre has been  the most requested place to visit, this week we had so many requests we went twice! The ladies went 1st and had a blast. Mollie’s daughter met us there which was lovely, we love when family can join us. We loved looking at the cakes in the farm shop area and the beautiful cards and books. Everyone had a lovely time and we came home with a few goodies. Margaret said that she really enjoyed herself and can’t wait for the next trip.

Blossoming friendships

Here at Cadbury we are all for establishing friendships between our residents. We have introduced Margaret to Anne and they have been inseparable ever since. Both women are widowed and are local so have lots in common, they’ve really hit it off. They both enjoy gardening so have come out to the local garden centre with us, choosing plants for the patio pots and helping to plant them when we got home. Anne has said that to find a friend whilst she’s here has really helped her feel at home and more settled.

Bring on the sunshine

We have been so excited to see the sunshine return after a really wet and gloomy start to the year. Our maintenance has cut the grass, tidied the garden and has even got the hanging baskets ready for us to plant. We started off with a trip to the local garden centre to buy some plants, we might have stopped at the café for a coffee, it would have been rude not too. Anne helped picked out the flowers for the baskets and then Norah joined her to help plant them. We had a lovely afternoon getting the garden ready for summer.
