Staff and residents at Red Oaks Care Home in Henfield are thrilled to have won ‘Innovative Garden of the Year 2016’ at Barchester in Bloom.
The category ‘Innovative Garden of the Year’ celebrates care homes that have thought outside the box to make the most of their outdoor spaces. Red Oaks was nominated for building a small shop in their garden, on a patch of land that previously wasn’t being used to its full potential. The shop, with its little hatch, has a very nostalgic feel and serves as a tuck shop and a hideaway for residents and staff to enjoy a quiet cup of tea.
Duncan Edwards, General Manager at Red Oaks said: “We are delighted to have won this award. I am very proud of all those who have been involved in helping our garden grow from strength to strength, especially our Maintenance Team led by Steve Martin, who built the amazing shop in our garden.”
