Carer/Support Worker of the Year

Tracy Halshaw
Carer/Support Worker of the Year

Local carer Tracey Halshaw has won ‘Carer of the Year’ at the Barchester Care Awards 2016 for her outstanding work at Cheshire Grange Care Home in Warrington.

The judges were blown away by Tracey’s dedication and said: “We use the word ‘role-model’ a lot but Tracy really is an inspiration to those around her. She is a tower of strength in difficult times and despite all that she has been through, she is always there for the residents she cares for and their loved ones.”

Cheshire Grange had already won three awards in the regional heats of the Barchester Care Awards; alongside Tracy, who won a regional and national award, Administrator Kirsten Sheath won regional accolade ‘Home Administrator of the Year’ and the home’s garden won a regional award in the ‘Residents Garden’ category.

Allison Kennie, General Manager at Cheshire Grange Care Home said: “We are all delighted to have won so many awards at this year’s Barchester Care Awards. I’m thrilled for Tracey and Kirsten, who both really deserve these awards, as well as our gardener Elizabeth Reston (assisted by her dog Tia) who works so hard. We were thrilled when we found out about the regional awards and now that Tracey has also been named a national winner, we just can’t stop smiling! I’m so proud of my team who always strive to deliver the very best services for the people we care for.”

On receiving the award Tracey said: “I feel completely overwhelmed and speechless – it’s an honour just to feel appreciated by the residents and by everyone.  I really am lost for words.  It’s not just about me, it’s about everybody – we may all work in different ways but it’s about teamwork – this award is for the whole home.”
