Hannah Mulholland, Activities Lead at Harper Fields Care Home in Balsall Common has been awarded ‘Activities Coordinator of the Year’ at the Barchester Care Awards 2016.
The award Hannah has won celebrates the vital role that Activities Co-ordinators play in Barchester homes, creating a fun and friendly living environment for everyone at the home.
Hannah was up against four others in the category from different Barchester homes.
The judges said: “Hannah is a gifted Activities Lead whose impact on the home extends well beyond the excellent seven day a week activities provision she organises. She is a real star and a role model for others in the home as well as elsewhere in the company given she has provided training and support to other activities colleagues.”
Deborah Cheshire, General Manager at Harper Fields said: “We are all so proud of Hannah. She really deserves this award because she always gives 100% and makes the lives of the residents living at Harper Fields exciting and fun. She is an asset to the home”
On receiving the award, Hannah said: “It really is an honour to bring the award back to Harper Fields, my dream before starting to work for Barchester more than four years ago was to create an environment for our residents that focused on all of their hobbies and interests and create an activities calendar to suit. We are always doing something exciting each day this is why I love my job. The residents are kept active with swimming club, Tai Chi, Skittles and exercise classes and we ensure we take all of our residents out on the mini-bus on one of our four outings a week. From riding the Severn valley railway through the rolling countryside to sipping a glass of wine at the Opera our residents have the opportunity to do whatever it is they wish for and my job is to make that happen. I try to ensure the resident’s lives are exciting and adventurous and I hope that one day someone will do the same for me when I reach their age.”
