Summer Fete

Staff, residents and relatives joined forces to present Hollyfields Summer Fete. The Zumba workshop and demonstrations were a huge hit and the children particularly enjoyed the samba drumming workshops which enabled them to make as much noise as they wanted to! Homemade cakes kept everyone topped up with energy and the double chocolate cake made by Janis was a huge hit with a group of ladies who took it home to enjoy with afternoon tea and a gossip.

Strawberry Tea

We all had a lovely time at our recent Strawberry Tea. Our Hostess, Mark Roberts dressed up as Elvis and entertained guests and residents! One of our Care Assistants was so shocked that we actually were having a summer he became quite overcome!!!

Flower Arranging

Anne from Bay Tree Florists in Carlisle came to demonstrate some flower arranging for residents. She brought in flowers and residents were able to follow her instructions to make some wonderful baskets. Everyone had a fantastic time and the residents that were unable to join in with the arranging can enjoy the beautiful flower arrangements that have been placed all around the home. Pictured left are residents, Dawn, George and Irene with all of the finished baskets.

Tea Dance

The champagne was flowing when Champagne Enterprise came on stage and entertained us with songs through the eras. Albert won the Barchester Bear competition and collected a nice prize of fifty pounds. Hazel loves a sing a long and knows all the words to the songs sung. We even had a chance to sing on the microphone with Daisy Daisy! Then we have June and friends joining in for a chance to show their vocal skills off too.

Summer Fayre

Our annual Summer Fayre was a huge success this year raising £472 for our local Charity, The Warwickshire and Northampton Air Ambulance. The fun-filled day included a mobile farm with goats, sheep, rabbits, ducks and a dog and many fundraising stalls with exciting games, tombola and a raffle. The day was complete with a 1940's style band and an extremely competitive egg and spoon and sumo wrestler space hopper race which the staff took part in, much to the resident’s amusement.

National Care Home Open Day

We celebrated National Care Home Open day with a fun filled day of activities. We took advantage of the dry weather and enjoyed some garden games. Our local MP Daniel Kawczynski visited and chatted to the residents as well as our local community support officer who spent the morning with the residents and staff. It was a busy day, thoroughly enjoyed by the residents, families and staff.

National Care Home Open Day at Castle Keep

Lord Mayor of Hull Council Nadine Fudge visited Castle Keep Care Home as part of Care Home Open Day. She said: “I was delighted to be invited to go down and see the fantastic work they are doing at Castle Keep”. She went on to say “They deserve a medal for the service they are providing to people who need it most”. The day was a day of 40's swing, cake stalls, tombola, dancing and singing as well as getting fit with a local Zumba group. Hearing dogs visited as did the Local British Heart Foundation and Sensory group.
