Park View celebrates Mina's 105th

19th January 2007

Nearly 90 people visited a Dagenham care home yesterday to celebrate the 105th birthday of a resident at the Park View Barchester care home.

Mina Perkins' birthday was a spectacular event, complete with food, music and a big cake for the guests to share.

"It is a big home so everyone was invited," said Alexis Wood, the manager of Park View.

"It really is an amazing age and it was a very lively event, with Mina's children and grandchildren there."

The home was decorated with flowers for the occasion and there was a buffet spread with a selection of food.

A singer also turned up to treat the guests to some old time music and live entertainment during the two hour event.

Mina was also honoured with a telegram from the Queen and the pension office.

Park View care home opened in 1996 and provides specialist care for people suffering from dementia.
