Overseas nurses qualify and flower power reigns at Newton House

Overseas nurses qualify and flower power reigns at Newton House
18th September 2007

Four familiar faces at Newton House and Hilton Park are celebrating the completion of their overseas nurses programme.

Cristina Monville, Maria Agular, Karmela Aquno and Estella Ladrido completed the programme through Northampton University. They now have the approval of the Nursing and Midwifery Council to work as registered nurses in the UK.

In other blooming marvellous Newton House news, four members of staff have taken part in a sunflower-growing competition.

General manager Lesley Hart shunned the usual Easter gift of confectionary in favour of sunflower seeds, with a view to providing more sustained (and healthy) pleasure.

Lesley gave seeds to Alexis West, Wendy Burbidge, Roy Ballentine and Val Betts, instructing them to nurture them at home. They were then to bring in photographs to see whose flower had grown the tallest.

Sadly, Alexis' and Val's flowers withered. However, Roy's and Wendy's both produced flowers and they were declared joint winners. Their efforts secured them a bottle of wine.
