Four new regional operation directors have been recruited to the Barchester Healthcare senior management team.
The appointments come as part of a new era after the recent acquisition of the Westminster Health Care portfolio.
The first new recruit Carol Smit, will be responsible for nine of Barchester's homes in Gloucestershire, Northampton, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire.
As a registered general nurse, psychiatric nurse, community health and midwifery nurse Ms Smit has worked with Barchester Healthcare since October 2003 when she was appointed home care manager at Longueville Court Care Home in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.
Helen Maiello, Barchester Healthcare's new regional operation director for South Wales, Shropshire and Mid-Wales, is a local lady hailing from Llanelli.
Ms Maiello, a palliative and intensive care nurse, has worked in the private healthcare sector for 13 years, spending the last five working for Barchester Healthcare.
Her new appointment as regional operation director last month means that she has nine homes to oversee, with the majority providing care for the elderly, frail and EMI.
The third recruit, Richard Hawes joined Barchester Healthcare as a staff nurse nearly six years ago - since then his career has rapidly progressed, and he is now responsible for seven Barchester Care Homes situated in Warminster, Wiltshire (down to the south coast) and Shoreham-on-Sea in Brighton.
And finally, Micky Shirley is the latest recruit to the post of regional operation director and will be responsible for nine of Barchester Healthcare's homes in the North London and Essex area.
Ms Shirley is no stranger to private healthcare, having spent the last six years working as a home care manager and subsequently quality and development manager for BUPA.
Barchester Healthcare said its focus on internal promotion is continuing to reward and encourage staff with three of the four new Regional Operation Directors having risen through the ranks.
