MS Society Awards 2010 open to nominations
26th October 2009

The next Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society Awards ceremony has been scheduled and, as such, people can be nominated for their contributions towards making the lives of those with the condition more bearable.

Application forms can be found online for those willing to put someone they know up for the award, with categories including the MS inspiration award, MS volunteer of the year, fundraiser of the year, carer of the year and best researcher, the lattermost being for the best MS professional.

Fundraiser of the year for 2009 Ian Williams, who worked extensively with MS Cymru, said of his award: "There are perceptions in the wider world that people with MS are very limited in what they can do, but it does not have to put the brakes on lives.

"I feel so proud and privileged to be MS fundraiser of the year. I will definitely use this to spur me on to bigger things."

The MS Society was founded in 1953 by Richard Cave, who hosted the inaugural meeting that year in Chelsea Town Hall, London.
