MND launches Life Worth Living campaign
26th November 2008

The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association has announced its intention to raise £800,000 through a new appeal over the next three years in Wales.

In its task, the charity is asking for donations from individuals, companies and other charitable trusts in Wales in order to address the problems associated with the disease.

The MND noted that at least 210 people in Wales were living with the condition which was known for its debilitating effects, which can require an individual to have up to 18 different health specialists to aid them in their day-to-day business.

Gwent-based Mark Mellens, who has had the disease for five years, said of the condition: "When you are diagnosed with MND it is a constant battle to try and enjoy life while you try and cope with the ever increasing boundaries of your physical abilities."

The MND Association was formed in 1979 by individuals who wanted a single body to govern support, advice and guidance for the condition.
