The menopause can be 'positive'

Many women worry about approaching the menopause and the impact it may have on their overall health.

Much has been publicised about how females are more at risk of certain cancers following menopause.

During the transition, older adults also experience hot flashes, mood swings, and other symptoms that can affect day-to-day living.

However, according to Annette Greenwood, a life coach and mentor, the menopause can in fact be a affirmative experience.

"It can [...] be a very positive time of transition depending on how you approach it, bringing some new challenges," she said.

Studies have shown that the mental attitude of women approaching the menopause affects their experience of it, with those who don't expect to have strong symptoms generally escaping them.

Consequently, it is important to find a new way to look at menopause and use the transition as a means by which to bring about change, such as improving diet and exercise regimes.
