Kenwyn celebrates opening of new bar

29th January 2007

Over 50 people enjoyed live music as they celebrated the opening of a bar at a Barchester care home in Cornwall last week.

Residents and relatives turned up to the launch of the Bedruthan Bar in Truro's Kenwyn care home, where the entertainment was provided by traditional country singer Ray Daniels.

The home's maintenance assistant Henryk Karasiewicz helped build the bar, which is located on the Trelissick Unit.

Kenwyn's manager, Mandy Trotter, said generous donations were made by the local Skinners brewery.

"They donated takeaway keg and case of lager, T-shirts for the bar staff to wear and various decorations including a real ale pump handle," she added.

The bar was named Bedruthan after a local landmark following a competition, which was won by recreational therapist Anne Wheeler.

It serves a selection of beers, wines and non-alcoholic cocktails to residents and will be open every lunch time.

Other special features at Kenwyn include landscape gardens, en suite facilities and a hairdressing salon.
