Homes staff take up Walk challenge

15th June 2006

Staff from a number of Barchester Healthcare's homes will be doing their bit for charity this weekend by taking part in the Great Scottish Walk.

Taking place in Edinburgh's Holyrood Park, the six mile walk will see May McCondichie, home manager at Archview Lodge, along with Susan Wylie, head of unit from Lochduhar Care Home and Anna Dinesh, charge nurse from Strachan House, raising money for Alzheimer's Scotland.

Also supporting them by raising money at their care homes are Cath Korpal, head of unit at Adlington Manor, Westvale House deputy manager Carol Arnold, and Karen Watkins general manager at The Wheatlands care home.

They have so far raised lots from local people, as well as workers and residents at their care homes and Ms McCondichie is hopeful that the trio will be able to raise around £1,000 between them by Sunday.

Ms McCondichie said that while she is looking forward to the challenge of taking part in the walk, she added that she is particularly looking forward to crossing the finish line!

Archview Lodge is in the process of establishing a new dementia unit, which should be up and running within the next few months.
