Help the Aged raise spring funds

31st January 2007

Elderly people's charity Help the Aged is calling on people to take part in its Big Spring Walk which takes place at the end of April.

The event involves people across the country organising their own walk with friends and family to help lift older people out of poverty and isolation.

While the charity encourages people to organise their own event, there is the option of joining one of the Help the Aged organised events.

"As well as being a fun day out for a worthwhile cause, walking is one of the best ways of staying fit and healthy," a Help the Aged spokesman said.

He added: "It is never too late to start exercising and people can age more healthily by fitting simple things into their everyday life to help keep fit, whatever their age, with walking being a great example."

All proceeds from the Big Spring Walk will be used to provide services, information and advice, and help fund biomedical research to keep people active and independent as they become older.
