Help the Aged launches nationwide dance event
18th August 2008

Help the Aged is encouraging keen dancers to host their own events to help raise funds for disadvantaged older people living in the UK and abroad.

Let's Dance 2008, which takes place between September 27th and October 4th, gives people across the UK the opportunity to organise fun events for a worthwhile cause.

Famous dancer and entertainer Lionel Blair has given his backing to the event, which is open to dancers of all ages and abilities.

Lionel Blair said that he was "absolutely thrilled" to be supporting the initiative and commented that "there's nothing that lifts the spirits more than music and dancing".

He added: "Please put your best foot forward and dance for Help the Aged - you really will be helping to make a difference to disadvantaged older people."

The charity recently urged the government to take action on the issue of fuel poverty in the older sections of the population.

It stated that the government must improve housing conditions so that both energy bills and carbon emissions can be reduced.
