Dudwell St Mary manager to run marathon

5th April 2007

Geoff Pride, manager of Dudwell St Mary care home in East Sussex will be running the Hastings Half Marathon on Sunday March 11th.

He will be raising money for the Hastings Alzheimer's Society.

Dudwell St Marys offers a specialist dementia care centre called Memory Lane, which opened in May last year. It provides 24-hour nursing care to residents in a beautiful country home.

Geoff said: "We have a great relationship with Hastings Alzheimer's Society and are always looking to be supportive. I enjoy running and this seemed like a good opportunity to try and raise some money.

"Obviously dementia care is a subject close to all our hearts."

Rosemary Iddendan, manager of Hastings Alzheimer's Society, said: "We are delighted that Geoff is running 13 miles for us and grateful for Dudwell's continuing support.

"The money will go towards out Community Briefing Scheme, whereby volunteers are recruited, trained and then matched with a carer to someone with dementia who feels isolated and in need or regular companionship.

"To date the scheme has been very successful, but its future is dependent on funding such as this."
