Disability benefit claimants asked for help with survey

People with multiple sclerosis have been urged to take part in a new survey about the claiming of disability benefits.

The poll seeks to find out exactly what the everyday experiences are for those claiming this assistance, in a bid to improve conditions, the MS Society reports.

Results from the short survey will be used by the Disability Benefits Consortium, a group of over 30 charities that plan to help the government better understand how changing the benefits system will affect people with conditions such as multiple sclerosis.

"We need as many people as possible to take part in the survey - the findings will be extremely important to help us to influence government benefits policy to ensure that everyone with MS who needs it gets the right support," said Laura Weir, head of policy and campaigns at the MS Society.

Multiple sclerosis affects around 100,000 people in the UK, the charity estimates.
