The Parkinson's Disease Society (PDS) has been shortlisted for the Deloitte Charity of the Year 2010, the firm has announced.
According to the major international consulting and accountancy firm, it will put the PDS forward when voting for the preferred charity from the final list of six, with voting opening last Friday and ongoing for two weeks, when Deloitte will select the top three for its newest fundraising initiative.
The PDS is hoping for the best and it is not hard to see why: Deloitte's partnership with Cancer Research UK and the NSPCC raised in excess of £1.6 million, smashing the company's £1 million fundraising target set in January.
Heads of the charity are now asking anyone involved with Deloitte, or those who know its employees, to cast their vote to help those with Parkinson's disease.
It concluded: "By doing this, you can help us raise awareness of Parkinson's among Deloitte staff and increase our chances of being selected for the fundraising partnership."
One in 500 people, or around 120,000 UK citizens, have Parkinson's disease.
