Christmas comfort for older guests

7th December 2006

The Disabled Living Foundation has released some suggestions about how to make an older guest comfortable this Christmas.

The charity, which provides free advice on equipment for older people, has said that many homes are not equipped for visitors who may have a special need.

This can range from having a commode or a bath seat, to a hoist or wheelchair, says the foundation.

Increasingly, research shows that many older people prefer to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, which can be made easier with a variety of services including respite care and home care.

The Disabled Living Foundation has recently launched an online catalogue of equipment available in the UK, which it intends to expand to include all products currently available.
