A television celebrity has voiced her support for a trek in China to raise funds for a leading charity for older people.
GMTV news presenter Penny Smith indicated that she hopes to take part in Help the Aged Trek China 2009, which she says will be "the perfect adventure".
The charity added that it is the "perfect opportunity" to experience a fascinating culture while at the same time raising important funds for disadvantaged older people both in the UK and around the world.
Penny Smith said: "For me, this is the perfect adventure.
"It's great to challenge yourself and what better way than by exploring a country for the first time and meeting new people."
Meanwhile another leading charity has enlisted the help of a well-known face in support of its campaign to help older people find the right care home.
The actor Richard Briers has written the foreword for Age Concern's new book entitled Find the Right Care Home, which aims to provide older people and their families with all the information they need to make an informed decision.
