Boxing legend Muhammad Ali held his 15th Annual Celebrity Fight Night Awards to highlight the ongoing battle against Parkinson's disease, it has been reported.

Among the stars attending the event in Phoenix, Arizona were Olympic gold medallist Michael Phelps, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner and actor Forrest Whitaker, who were all honoured for their part in accentuating the importance of the cause.

Jon Bon Jovi was also in attendance, headlining at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa, where the get-together was held.

"It is good to be here with so many great people and Muhammad Ali especially," said Phelps, according to ABC15.

He continued: "I had the privilege of meeting him four years ago so being here and being with everyone it is a special night."

During his years in the spotlight, Ali became the three-time heavyweight champion of the world in the boxing ring and was also appointed as a United Nations messenger of peace.
