Care home worker receives national award
12th July 2010

An activities organiser at a care home in Greenock has won a national award in recognition of the quality of her work.

Karen Dillon of the Balclutha Court care home in Greenock was named Activities Organiser of the Year, beating more than 400 entrants from across the country at the Barchester Healthcare Awards, the Greenock Telegraph reports.

Nominated by relatives and staff for her dedication to her job and the pride with which she carries out her work, Ms Dillon was presented with her award at a glitzy ceremony in Birmingham.

Balclutha Court's general manager Alison Dickson told the publication that the award could not have gone to someone more deserving.

"This award not only recognises all of her hard work, but it also shows the quality of care we are dedicated to providing the people who live at the home," she added.

Located in the west end of Greenock, Balclutha Court is rated 'Very Good' by the Scottish Care Commission for the Regulation of Care.
