Barchester wins training award

22nd June 2006

Barchester Healthcare has been rewarded for its commitment to training people across its care homes.

The group has been awarded an Apprenticeship Commitment Certificate, given out by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) as part of its effort to encourage training programmes and apprenticeship schemes across a range of sectors.

Barchester has over 100 apprentices working in its care homes across the country, in a wide range of roles such as caring, administration and catering.

The company has a high completion rate of apprentices compared to the rest of the care industry and as such was presented with the award from the LSC.

Mike Parsons, managing director at Barchester, told Caring Times: “The award is especially gratifying coming so soon after our Hospitality Assured award and underlines Barchester's focus on supporting expert staff to provide the best care for our residents."

Mr Parsons added that the group offers trainee staff a "unique programme" and is committed to attracting as many people to the care sector as possible.
