Barchester United v Fakenham Town

20th April 2006

Barchester travelled to Fakenham for the second time this season, with hopes of reaching the final and keeping them on target for the double (having already won the league) in their first season together.
Despite having the wind against them Barchester took the lead with a well placed through ball from Lyndy King, which Captain Gemma Hamilton calmly converted.

Vicki Hutchinson and Em Anderson both caused problems for the home defence and were unlucky not to score on several occasions. The defence of Gemma Hallam, Lauren Bowles, Vicki Shucksmith, Tash Evans and Kerry Sharpen stood firm and made vital tackles. With 10 seconds to victory Fakenham showed good determination and equalised to take it to extra time.

EXTRA TIME. Barchester started quickly again with another through ball from Lyndy King for Vicki Hutchinson to finish. Robyn Edwards and Shaunda Hannant pressurised Fakenham well and worked hard throughout the time. Fakenham again managed to equalise in the dying minutes of the first half. Both teams created chances, but failed to capitalise on them. It went to penalties which Barchester won 4-2.
Barchester will now be playing in the league cup final (date to be confirmed) and hope to bring the trophy home to Heath Farm House with pride.
