Barchester shows off new Norfolk care home

Barchester Healthcare has opened the doors of its new care home in Hopton-On-Sea, Norfolk to the public this week.

The site, which will be named Ritson Lodge, is still under construction, but the national care provider offered locals a tour of the premises so they can see the quality the home will have on offer.

Sue Hill, the home's general manager, was joined by councillor Coleen Walker, mayor of Great Yarmouth, to cut the ribbon at the sites new information suite.

Ms Hill said: "Our information suite is a wonderful way for people to see the type of high-quality environment that we are creating at Ritson Lodge for the residents we will care for and the staff we will employ."

It is estimated that the opening of the 60-bed residential care home will create around 100 new jobs, with positions in nursing, hospitality and administration available.

The home has been named after Reverend Bartholomew Ritson, who set up a bread factory in the region to feed underprivileged local people.
