The IT services provided by Barchester Healthcare have been recognised for their contribution to nursing homes, hospitals and schools across the UK.
At a Highlands and Islands dinner and awards ceremony hosted by the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI), the Inverness branch of Barchester Healthcare won a BT Scotland Award for Excellence in Information Communication Technology.
Barchester's most northerly office provides IT services not only to its 170 nursing homes and the head office in London, but also to the Priory Group, which runs about 50 hospitals and schools.
"I'm delighted that Barchester were nominated to receive this award as it is further evidence that with modern communications technologies we're able to provide high quality IT services from our Inverness base to over 300 sites across the UK," said Barchester's IT director Calum MacLeod, who collected the award.
"Our other key resource in achieving this is by recruitment and retention of high quality staff in the Inverness and Highland area," he added.
Barchester's achievements in technology were also celebrated by Shonaig Macpherson, the SCDI chairman.
"Inverness is the centre of the data comms universe for Barchester. The company is showing how information technology connections can open up new opportunities for companies based in the Highlands and Islands to provide support services across the UK and, indeed, the globe," she said.
