Barchester Healthcare takes part in National Care Home Open Day celebrations

On Friday 20th June, many of our homes took guests around the world to celebrate National Care Home Open Day 2014. Gloria Hunniford, a keen supporter of issues that affect older people, was this year’s National Care Home Open Day Ambassador and she visited Barchester's Atfield House in Isleworth.

Residents, visitors and staff had the opportunity to travel to a variety of countries without having to leave the homes or its grounds. Many of our homes organised an array of 'Around the World' activities and cooked up some culinary delights from different destinations across the globe, from Brazil to Italy.

This free event was open to the general public and gave those living in our homes a chance to meet their neighbours while offering anyone interested in visiting one of our homes, a chance to find out what life is really like there.

The second ever National Care Home Open Day was a great success and thank you if you came along on the day to help us celebrate.
