Barchester Healthcare has achieved some of the highest standards in the care industry, according to its Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) overall inspection scores for 2007.
The care home provider, which is the first to publish in detail its CSCI ratings, scored an 'Excellent' rating for 20 per cent of its homes, double the market average of ten per cent.
A further 60 per cent were deemed 'Good' against a market average of 55 per cent.
In a statement, Barchester Healthcare emphasises the importance of care homes being "open and accountable" and encourages the rest of the industry to join it in making the CSCI findings public.
Managing director of Barchester Healthcare, Tim Hammond said: "We are passionate about the care and services we provide and welcome the efforts that are being made to give the public a better understanding of where the best care homes are."
