Barchester building nominated for design award

22nd January 2007

Barchester Healthcare has been shortlisted for a prestigious design award.

The organisation's Dudwell St Mary centre in Burwash, Kent has been put forward as a contender for the Best Renovation Project award at the 2007 Pinders/Caring Business Healthcare Design Awards in London.

The complex provides dementia suffers from the nearby Memory Lane community with care as well as offering general nursing facilities to the elderly.

It was designed with great thought for the local trees and wildlife and in keeping with the building's original use as a convent.

"People are our business, so we are naturally thrilled to be nominated as a finalist for these important awards," said Tim Hammond, the managing director of Barchester Healthcare.

"The team work shown by staff, residents and relatives during building work was amazing."

The winner will be announced on Wednesday March 28th at Lords Cricket Ground.
