Award winning charity at local care home

Malcolm McDonald, who works at the home in Swindon, was selected from more than 600 entries from all over the UK. He was nominated for his hilarious Toolbox Calendar, which took inspiration from Calendar Girls and raised a smile as well as a lot of money for the Barchester Foundation. Malcolm was presented with a trophy at a glitzy awards ceremony at the Crowne Plaza in Birmingham.

The annual Barchester Care Awards celebrate the amazing standards of care Barchester Healthcare staff provide to their residents in homes across the UK. The ‘Foundation Champion Award’ recognises those employees who have made a special difference to raise awareness and funds for the Barchester Foundation - a charity that helps older people and those with disabilities. Malcolm has been selected from hundreds of nominations from more than 200 Barchester care homes in the UK.

Steve Cousins, General Manager at White Lodge care home, said: “Only one person had the passion, the enthusiasm and the sense of humour to create the Toolbox calendar and that was our Malcolm. The Barchester Foundation is a fantastic cause and we all look forward to the first of the month when we can turn over the page to the calendar.”
