Atfield House resident puts pen to flag

1st March 2007

A resident at a Middlesex care home has become the latest to add her name to the travelling Barchester flag, which is signed by the oldest resident in each home.

Gwladys Thomas "really enjoyed" signing the flag at Barchester's Atfield House in Isleworth, according to reports in Your Local Guardian.

Ms Thomas has, the newspaper notes, lived at the St John's Road for longer than any other resident.

The flag is travelling round the country and has a combined age of nearly 3,200.

By early this year, it had raised nearly £1,500 for the Barchester Foundation, a national charity aimed at helping older people or those with physical or mental disabilities maintain their dignity.

Atfield House offers a range of services, including nursing for older people, specialist dementia care in separate accommodation and respite care.

The rooms are spacious with en suite facilities, nutritious meals are offered which change on a daily basis and residents can enjoy hotel services, a hairdressing salon and beautiful gardens.
