40 walkers celebrate hot coal walk for charity
20th November 2009

The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association has celebrated the success of its second firewalk, which attracted hundreds of spectators at Northants County Cricket Ground this month.

After major promotions and the harnessing of local stars Lee Daggett, Ryan Cummins and Jack Brooks - all Northamptonshire County Cricketers - and BBC Northampton presenter Richard Savage, the 40-strong team crossed the coals for charity.

Lee Daggett was understandably apprehensive over the task but kept his cool while facing up to the heated challenge.

He continued: "My first step on the hot coals was a bit of a leap of faith. It felt hot but not unbearably so. I'm really glad I did it and it was great to be part of achieving something for the charity."

This week, it was revealed that Sarah's Story - the first ever UK broadcast advert produced to raise awareness of MND - had won the prize for Best Crafted Commercial 2009 at this year's BTA Craft Awards in London.
