New Care Home Breaks Ground in Wallingford

New Care Home Breaks Ground in Wallingford

National care provider, Barchester Healthcare, marked the start of their newest care home build in Wallingford, which is under construction by Lawrence Baker Ltd.

The 70-bed care home in Wallingford, set to open in winter 2020, will provide high quality residential care services, as well as dedicated dementia care in Barchester’s unique Memory Lane Communities.

To officiate the breaking of the ground at the new site Andy Williams, Senior Property Development Manager for Barchester Healthcare dug a silver shovel into the ground for the first time.

On the day, Andy took a tour of the site with Site Manager of Lawrence Baker Gareth Williams, alongside Kevin McDonald, Project Coordinator, Wayne Lester, Contracts Manager, Luke Hollick, Commercial Director, Bryony Woodruff, Quantity Surveyor, and Paul Dixon, the Managing Director.

The architects of the build, Chris Shearman and Nicole Nelson from TDC Architects also joined the group on the day alongside site surveyor Michael Hilton from Holden & Lee.

After the tour, Andy said: "We’re very excited to begin work on our new, purpose-built care home in Wallingford. There is a real need for quality care in the local area, and our new home will definitely meet this. Not only will our prospective residents have a home set in beautiful grounds, the new home will potentially give a boost to employment in neighbouring communities. "

Gareth Williams Site Manager for Lawrence Baker said ‘Lawrence Baker are delighted to be the Contractor of choice for Barchester on their latest care development. My team and I look forward to a successful partnership with the Barchester team, and plan to deliver a high quality project and quality addition to Barchester’s growing care home portfolio.’

Barchester Healthcare’s Wallingford care home will open in December 2020 and will deliver personalised residential care as well as personalised dementia care in Barchester’s unique Memory Lane Community.
