Barchester Healthcare Honour Nurses on International Nurses’ Day

Care home provider Barchester Healthcare has paid special tribute to all of their nurses and support functions throughout the company on International Nurses Day, to thank them for their dedication to the residents and patients they care for.

CEO Pete Calveley, made a special visit to Longueville Court care home in Peterborough on Friday 11th of May where he personally awarded each of the nurses with a branded water bottle as a token of appreciation for their contribution at the home, and to encourage nurses to stay hydrated.

International Nurses’ Day is a chance to recognise and reward the important work and dedication of nurses everywhere, who often go above and beyond the call of duty. An annual celebration at Barchester, International Nurses’ Day recognises the nurses who make a real difference to the lives of those in their care.

Saying thank you to the 2,036 nurses within the wider Barchester family, each received their own branded water bottle. Many Barchester homes throughout the company also honoured their nursing team with a celebratory event with residents and friends and family to the home.

Margery Dino, the Deputy Manager of Longueville Court care home and previous unit manager and nurse at the home has been with Barchester for the past 12 years. Passionate about her profession, Margery has been a key figure in the home, going above and beyond her duties for residents.

Margery, who was also gifted on the day by Pete said, “I love being a nurse because I like taking care of people. I wanted to be a nurse for as long as I could remember; my aunts were nurses and my role models, and I was excited to follow their lead. I feel proud when I can help the residents at our home to feel better.”

Pete Calveley, CEO of Barchester Healthcare said: “All of our nurses across Barchester are hard-working, dedicated and passionate about caring for older people, and they’re dedication is invaluable to the residents and patients we care for. We appreciate the work they do all year round.”
