Activities at Winchester House Care Home
Our activities team are constantly striving to mentally and physically stimulate those we support by organising group and individual activities for anyone and everyone to participate in. There are regular outings in the minibus to nearby places of interest, including the local priory and garden centres, as well as visits from musicians, a wide range of entertainers. We are lucky enough to have a enthusiastic team of volunteers who regularly visit the home throughout the week, and our yearly pantomime is a real crowd-pleaser and is well-attended by residents, relatives and members of staff. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home, so it is essential that our team are dedicated to ensuring that residents are entertained, and that life at Winchester House is fun and active.

Here We Go Again
Residents at Winchester House were delighted to gather together and see the return of their weekly Cinema Club! Each resident enjoyed their own bag of popcorn while settling down to watch the Mama Mia films.
Anniversary Celebrations
As garden visits have been getting underway, we had the pleasure of celebrating Sue’s 60th wedding anniversary with her! Sue’s daughters came to visit with her in the garden before going to visit with Sue’s husband at a different care home. Although unable to be with her husband, Sue was able to video chat with him while enjoying her daughter's company, being showered with gifts and flowers and enjoying a very special homemade cake from our wonderful chef!
Royal Ascot
Royal Ascot came to Winchester House! Residents loved wearing their DIY fascinators and enjoyed a refreshing glass of Pimm's from our specially decorated cart! Here’s Margaret saying a huge 'cheers' as we celebrated Ladies Day!
Pet Picture Therapy
Everyone at Winchester House has been really missing our weekly visits from Rosie, our pet therapy dog, so we were overjoyed when Kathy, her owner, sent us over these lovely photographs with an update on how they are during this lockdown. Residents loved seeing Rosie and are looking forward to a time they can pet her again!
VE Day Celebrations
On Friday, Winchester House celebrated VE Day’s 75th anniversary all over the home. Residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea of classic British cakes and scones that were prepared by the kitchen team, while waving their flags and singing along to all the old war time hits! Some staff even dressed and up and everyone came together in high spirits for this wonderful occasion.
Happy Easter
This Easter at Winchester House we got every department involved in our Easter decorating competition. Each department had their own areas and resources to improvise with.
We had dishcloth flowers by the kitchen, a housekeepers flower trail and even a beautifully decorated Easter tree on one of the units. It really was wonderful to see everyone pulling together and getting into the Easter spirit! Here’s one of our residents proudly showing off the work that went into our residential units display, which paid off as they won the prize for “Best resident participation”!
