Activities at Wilsmere House Care Home

Most days, you will find our Activities Coordinators doing a range of different activities with residents, whether that be in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis. It is important that our activities team are passionate about the social events that we provide, and are dedicated to delivering an activities programme that reflect the interests and capabilities of those we support, so that life at Wilsmere House is full of fun.

de Havilland Aircraft Museum

On a very sunny afternoon, some residents and relatives decided that they wanted to visit the de Havilland Mosquito Aircraft Museum.

Most residents were a bit put off by the name 'Mosquito', and said, "Who would want to see mosquitos?" However, one resident, who was an aircraft fanatic, stepped in and replied, "No, its not actually a mosquito, but a prototype which is made of wood and was used during World War 2. They were over the moon to see the aircraft, so much so that we have arranged to visit again.

Open Day

On June 2017, Wilsmere House threw open its doors and welcomed the community, local authories, and the CQC, who had the opportunity to come and witness life within our home. Residents decorated the hall and chose their theme, along with the food. Everyone had a fantastic time and we danced the afternoon away.

Wilsmere House Care Centre Celebrating Burns

Wilsmere House Care Centre Celebrating Burns

All the residents’, staff and families dressed in Tartan Kilts and came out to celebrate Robert Burns on January 30th 2016.

We had a piper whom piped the Haggis to the main area. A toast was given to the Haggis, poetry was read, music played and songs were sang! While we continued the  fun downstairs the Piper was busy playing on each unit so the residents who were unable to leave their rooms could enjoy this beautiful music.

The residents and guests enjoyed the Haggis with Neeps and Tatties and this was washed down with Irn Brew. They also had lots of whiskey for their Toast which seemed to go on and on! It was a beautiful afternoon and the residents enjoyed the recital of poetry and some good old Scottish music. To end the afternoon we all joined in to sing Auld Lang Syne.
