Our role in the home is fundamental to ensuring that our residents enjoy a fulfilling quality of life. We strive to provide a stimulating, creative & varied range of activities & events in the home, which everyone can enjoy whether they prefer social group engagement or one to one interaction. Residents choice is what we aim to provide to the best of our abilities. We enjoy being creative, sharing projects and discussing with our residents the kind of activities they would like to enjoy. Both indoor and outdoor activities are offered to cater for all tastes as well as regular outings to local places of interest.

Kelly and Sandra have worked for Westgate House for over 12 years, so have many years’ experience. They love having fun with the residents and providing a variety of activities.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Remembrance Day
We spent time remembering those who have falling on Remembrance Day.
Westgate Wears Pink
Westgate House General Manager, Catherine, and staff wore pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
Words of Support
General Manager, Catherine, and all the staff at Westgate House were thrilled to receive many laminated letters of support during this unprecedented period from St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School, thanking all the staff for their dedication in caring for everyone living at Barchester Westgate House. The cards are on permanent display in our staff room for all to enjoy. It is great to know that we are appreciated and supported by our local community.
Black History Month
During Black History Month, Westgate House's residents celebrated and discussed aspects of African-American History. We found pictures and stories of African-American people in history that we knew, but also some that we were unaware of such as Frank Bailey Silvertown’s first full time African-American Firefighter in England in 1955, Asquith Camile Xavier the first non-white train guard at Euston station in 1966, Bishop Wilfred Wood the first African-American Bishop in the Church of England in 1985 and Samuel Coleridge Taylor born in 1875, a African-American British composer, who was known for his three cantatas on the epic poem Song of Hiawatha.
We also spoke of cultural recipes and moments in our own residents' history. Enclosed are pictures of Ola who gave us a West African recipe for Egusi soup and our Black History display in our Memory Lane Unit.

A Royal Celebration
We had lots of fun celebrating the Queen's birthday here at Westgate.
Carers Week
We celebrated Carers Week with a delicious buffet to show our appreciation for all their hard work.
