Activities at Tixover House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Nicola (Nic) and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Tixover House.

My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities, entertainers and outings. At Tixover House we offer something for everyone, including crafts, games, virtual visits to places of interest around the world, outings in the local area and parties. We also provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need more support. Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meeting we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Tixover House.

I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones. 'Living life to the full' is my motto, and whatever your ability there is always something new to learn or try.

Happy Birthday!

We celebrated a very special birthday! Our wonderful resident Joyce turned 101! What better way to celebrate then with a Disney themed party!

We had a lovely sing-a-long and all the staff dressed up in their finest Disney outfits. We even had two little princess come in to join the celebrations. All residents loved listening to them sing and loved singing all of their favourite songs to them as well!

After all the singing residents enjoyed a marvelous buffet, cooked by our wonderful chef, washed down with some bubbly!

We all sung happy birthday and of course had a little taster of the scrumptious birthday cake prepared by our chef. Joyce couldn’t stop smiling and said how grateful she was for such a wonderful party!

Valentine's Day

Residents and staff at Tixover House have been filling their home with love in celebration of Valentine’s Day. The residents enjoyed a morning of flower arranging with beautiful fresh roses which stimulated their senses and led to reminiscing about their own wedding bouquets.

For lunch we all enjoyed a wonderful meal followed by the incredible vocal talents of ‘Nikki.’ All residents definitely had a warm fuzzy feeling as they settled in in front of the TV to watch a romantic movie.

Creative Mojo

Tixover house have enjoyed a creative January with the help of the Creative Mojo! Some of our residents painted some wonderful tropical fish to brighten up our walls. Bill who used to love painting said ‘It was lovely to create a colourful piece of art.

Chinese New Year

The festivities haven’t stopped at Tixover. Residents enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year in true traditional style. From creating our own dragon to receiving red fortune envelopes our guests were kept entertained and enjoyed learning about another culture.

Christmas Celebrations

Tixover house have been busy celebrating this Christmas time. From Christmas parties to wonderful raffles, residents and staff have enjoyed a fun filled month. We had a wonderful response from our Christmas raffle and managed to raffle of a total of 44 prizes.

Along with the arts and crafts our residents have also been kept busy with an abundance of live entertainment keeping them dancing all month long. All residents and staff are looking forward to welcoming in the new year with their new year’s celebrations and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Tixover House Shares the Festive Spirit

Tixover House have been very busy leading up to the festive period. The residents have been busy creating crafts, decorating and doing some incredibly good deeds. On Friday 6th Tixover participated in Elf day for Alzheimer’s. Many of the staff took part and dressed as Santa’s little helpers to raise some worthy funds. From designing their own elf hat to having a Christmas sing-a-long the staff and residents were kept incredibly busy and the donations keep rolling in.

Not only did the residents take part in this, but they also helped the Stamford Local Food Bank. Food collections have been happening throughout December. The residents, family and staff’s generosity was overwhelming and on the 9th a few of our residents went to drop off our collection. It was a lovely afternoon at the Stamford Food Bank and our residents felt incredibly proud of our achievements.

Tixover House love raising money for charity and helping in the local community. Currently we are collecting old stamps to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support so if you do fancy visiting us bring your old envelopes!
