Activities at Strachan House Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Life at Strachan House Care Home

Christmas carols

The residents and staff at Strachan House Care Home have had a wonderful day. This morning we had guess the carol, and our Christmas facts. Then this afternoon we were entertained by one of our house keeping staff Kenneth McCloud who played different Christmas carols on his keyboard. We also had a cocktail afternoon with a variation of different cocktails we had a tasty berry blast and a mulled wine twist which went down a treat. The staff looked all Christmassy with there Christmas jumpers on in aid of Save the children’s annual fundraising event, Christmas Jumper Day.

Strachan team host panto!

The residents and staff at Strachan House Care Home were highly entertained by this year’s staff panto.  ‘‘Twas the night before Christmas in old Strachan House”.

It was a real treat. The staff worked hard in putting on the performance and there was a representative from every unit and department who got involved.

Christmas party

Residents and staff at Strachan House care home had a ball at their Christmas party night. We enjoyed entertainment by performer, Jack High who performed a medley of hits that had us toe tapping, dancing and singing along too.

There was plenty of dancing, drinks and a very special Christmas cocktail served alongside lots of laughs and giggles. Everyone had a really wonderful night.

Magic of the Nutcracker

We experienced the magic of the Nutcracker with a special interactive workshop led by English National Ballet Associate Artists.

Our residents were able to take a magical journey thorough Edwardian London and to learn more about the enchanted Nutcracker characters: Clara, the Mouse King, and her valiant Nutcracker doll.

The session included a chair-based dance workshop, clips of the ballet on stage and a Christmas carol sing-along, truly enjoyed by all.

Truffles with Unilever

We had a lovely time joining Paul Hawkins and Steve Wilkes from Unilever for an exciting immersive Christmas experience.

Our residents were welcomed with chocolate treats as Paul and Steve took them on an exciting chocolate truffle making and biscuit decorating journey.

To finish off the Christmas special event, our residents enjoyed a themed quiz and a singalong.

We all had a wonderful time.

Trip to The Dome

The residents at Strachan House Care Home had a wonderful afternoon at The Dome.  The ladies had a great time looking at the beautiful decorations and lights and we couldn’t go there without getting an afternoon tea and oooooh with bubbles too. Why not it’s Christmas time. The ladies had a great day. We had a great reminiscing session.
